Professional writers are available through Textbroker to write any type of Web content form business writing to general Web copy.

Textbroker began in 2008 as a way for online publishers to quickly get their content written by the many professional writers who have been accepted by Textbroker. A German version of the freelance website proved popular among German freelancers, attracting more than 20,000 German writers. This popularity promoted the development of the American site, Textbroker.com.

Buying Web Content

To place an order for Web content, Textbroker clients can find a Web writer for their content by posting a thorough description of their project. This can include keywords and other instructions for the Web writer to follow.

Freelance writers on Textbroker are rated on a star level of one to five. Clients post projects on the site with a star rating specified. The projects then become available to any Textbroker writer interested in taking the project and who qualifies for the project's level. If the project consists of multiple articles, each one is listed separately and may be chosen by different Textbroker writers.

Web Content Prices

The star level of the content determines not only the skill level of the writer but also the price. The lowest rating, two, will cost the client .01 per word. A three star article will cost .014 per word. Four stars will cost .02 per word and a five star will cost .67 per word.

Content Ratings

The star level of the content greatly affects the quality of the content. While a two-star rating is extremely inexpensive, this rating is described by Textbroker as "legible." Three-star articles are average, four-star articles are "excellent" and a five-star articles are "professional."

However, a piece of content with a low star number is available to those with higher star ratings. For instance, a three-star article request can be done by any Textbroker writer with a rating of three, four or five stars.

Available Writers

Textbroker currently boasts as many as 1,000 writers who are signed up with the site. Each Textbroker writer must submit an application with writing samples to be considered for acceptance. Upon acceptance, most writers are assigned a three-star rating.

Each article that the freelance writers submit is sent through CopyScape by Textbroker editors and then ranked for overall quality and adherence to the client's guidelines. Writers can raise or lower their rating each time their work is rated.

Hiring Writers Directly

Textbroker clients choose the writer they want to work with by placing a direct order. This allows clients to develop a working relationship with one writer. Many buyers choose this option in order to have consistent work from a writer that has provided them with favorable work through the site. This allows the client to work with a writer who understands the client's needs, saving the time needed to communicate those needs to multiple writers.

For direct orders, Textbroker writers set their own per-word rates. The minimum price for direct orders is .019 per word.
