Sapphire Blue Publishing began in early 2008 as an independent online publisher of fiction. It publishes ebooks that are available in digital form only. The publisher does provide an ISBN for each book it accepts. It does publish reprints if the author retains the rights to the work and can prove that the rights reverted back to her after publication.
Books are purchased through the site. Buyers have the options of receiving the books as a PDF, .PRC or as HTML. They can be read with a reader or from their computer. The site forbids sharing purchased ebooks with others.

Book Word Counts
Writers interested in publishing with Sapphire Blue can submit short stories, novellas or novels of varying lengths. Short stories should be between 10,000 and 18,000 words. Novellas should be between 18,001 and 40,000 words. Novels are between 40,001 and 100,000 words.
Ebook Prices
The price of each book is set by the publisher. It depends on the length of the book.
- Short stories are $2.50.
- Novellas of 18,001 to 25,000 words are $3.50.
- Novellas of 25,001 to 40,000 words are $4.50.
- Short novels of 40,001 to 65,000 words are $5.50.
- Medium-length novels of 65,001 to 80,000 words are $6.00.
- Long novels of 80,001 to 100,000 words are $6.50.
Each writer receives a royalty on each sale. The royalty percentage is negotiated with the publisher and is not the same for all books.
How to Submit to Sapphire Blue
The site accepts digital submissions only- no paper manuscripts. Submissions should be made in Bookman Old Style font, 12 point. The manuscript should be edited for grammatical errors before submitting. Sapphire Blue estimates the wait time for a response is two months after a manuscript has been submitted.
