Publishing Books With Amira Press
Online publishing with Amira Press doesn't require adhering to one specific genre. Amira publishes in genres as diverse as horror, romance, science fiction, suspense/thriller, chick lit, paranormal, romance, western, romance and young adult novels. It also publishes short story anthologies. Like most book publishing companies, Amira provides editing and cover art. An ISBN is provided for books that are more than 20,000 words in length.
To get published in print format, Amira has several guidelines. The book has to be written by someone who has already publishes a book with Amira Press. The book also has to have at least 55,000 words. The books that are chosen for print publishing are at the discretion of the publisher, and all books by Amira writers who have the minimum word count are not chosen for print.
Get Published by a Paying Online Publisher
Amira doesn't offer any up-front advance payment for any books that are published by the site. Instead, all Amira writers are paid with a royalty percentage. Digital books earn 50 percent of the sales price for the author when the book is bought from the Amira Press website.
Some Amira ebooks are sold on Fictionwise. When a book is bought from a third-party site, the author is paid a 25 percent royalty. For print books, the online publisher pays 15 percent. The print books are sold through Amazon, BarnesandNoble.com and others. All Amira online publishing royalties are paid to authors once a month.
Online Book Publishing Requirements
All manuscript submissions to the online publisher must be done online. The manuscript must be in .RTF or .DOC format. Amira accepts simultaneous submissions. When submitting one, Amira should be informed of the simultaneous status.
There are two book lengths published by Amira, 20,000 to 40,000 word novellas and 40,000 to 85,000 word full-length books. The novella length books are only accepted by writers who have already published books with Amira. Writers can submit queries or full manuscripts to this online publisher. Amira responds to queries in two weeks or less. Writers who submit full manuscripts can expect a response in 90 days or less.
