NaturalNews.com is launching new services for authors to write and sell print-on-demand books. This service expands on the health-information services that are provided by the site from freelance writers.
Natural News has long been known as an opportunity for freelance health writers. The website publishes freelance-written health materials about natural health topics and pays the writers either an upfront payment for articles or a portion of the income that the articles generate, depending on whether the article topics were assigned.
Print on Demand Books
Like many modern self-publishing sites, this service does not require the writer or self-publisher to purchase a specific number of books. The books are printed only when they are ordered. The books printed by the site can be as long as 400 pages.
While self-published writers generally need to do a great deal of their own marketing to promote their work, many print-on-demand book publishers also market the books they print. NaturalNews is no different. The main site will advertise the books and will pay a royalty to the book writer each time a copy of their book is sold. And because the site draws 1.2 million readers each month, there is a large potential customer base.
This new service from Natural News is available because of recent equipment acquisitions by Truth Publishing. Truth is a sister company of Natural News, and it is capable of printing and binding softcover volumes.

To get published by Natural News, the writer must electronically submit their book to Truth Publishing. The electronic version of the book is then printed and bound as a softcover. The publisher ships the books directly to the buyers. The topics published by the print-on-demand service are the same as the ones published by the site. Natural News caters to alternative science, health and history topics.It does not sell the ebooks in their electronic format.
Independent Book Publishers
Like many online, independent book publishers, the Natural News printing service make sit far easier to publish a book about a topic that isn’t yet mainstream. Natural News often covers such niche topics as the dangers of fluoride in drinking water, homeschooling legal issues, government intrusion and criticism of the health care industry.
The audience for such topics is evident in the popularity of the website, but these topics and many like them are often not popular enough for mainstream book publishers to take the financial risk of purchasing the rights and printing up thousands of copies. An independent book publisher has to do neither. The books aren’t printed unless there is a demand, and the writers are paid if there is one.
